Tony Douglas began his music career at age five in 1974, studying as a concert violinist and playing Mozart and Paganini masterpieces. He studied music at the University of Eastern Kentucky and at the University of Puget Sound.
At the age of eight, he played second chair violin in advanced Junior High Symphony. Throughout the 70’s he continued playing solo violin.
At the age of twelve, Tony began performing live music in bars, nightclubs and grange halls all over the West coast. One year later, Tony had begun opening up shows for country stars such as Johnny Russell and Bill Younger.
By the age of sixteen in 1985 he played a concert live on stage with Johnny Rodriguez, and at the same concert... Tony was the opening act for Johnny Lee at the Tullary County Fair in Southern California.
Throughout the 1990’s to the year of 2007, He has been the opening act for such bands and superstars as
Charlie Daniels,
Merle Haggard,
Eddie Rabbit,
Mark Chestnut, Joe Diffie,
Terry Clark,
Rascal Flatts,
the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band,
The Kingsmen,
The Whalers and
The Ventures.
He has played fiddle and guitar live age with both guitar players from The Ventures, Don Wilson and Nokie Edwards. He also played a concert with Hank Thompson.
Tony has played violin on WaiKiki Beach in Hawaii at the Outrigger Hotel.
He has even played for USA Navy sailors aboard our nation’s largest aircraft carrier the USS Carl Vincent. He has performed for our troops at McChord Air force Base and at Ft. Lewis. Tony has performed on national television for the president of the United States, George W. Bush at his speech in the Black Hawk hanger. Tony has been on US tours as well and has been the opening act for
Crystal Gale and Frankie J. Wilson on those tours. He has played in many different coliseums fairs and Casinos with various bands. Click on venues to see more performance locations.
